We are a newly founded organization which seeks to bring Irish speaking consumers together to get products and services in the Irish language. It is free for anyone to join. We are an independent, not-for-profit consumers' organization. We are not a charity, political organization or cultural organization. We are not associated with any other organization.

Our Aims

- to recruit Irish speaking consumers and to inform them of products and services available in Irish
- that a wide range of products and services be available in Irish
- that products and services in Irish are of a high standard
- equality with English speaking consumers.

 
Background to Cumann na dTomhaltóití Gaeilge

 

For far too long Irish speaking consumers have accepted products and services in the English language only. This should not have to be the case. As consumers, we have power by choosing who we give our money to to provide us with products and services. Irish speaking consumers can use this power of choice by choosing companies and organizations that offer products and services in Irish.

Irish people are very favourable to the Irish language and would be very happy to see Irish used more widely in all sorts of areas such as on products available in supermarkets, in the media, on the internet, in advertising and in many other areas. Irish has been used by the business world for a long time but it has never been used in a consistent, widespread and high profile, high impact manner.

Cumann na dTomhaltóirí Gaeilge wants to gather together as many Irish speakers as possible to use their collective clout to prove that there is a demand for product and services in Irish. If businesses are open to change, they will be more than happy to provide what Irish speakers want knowing that they will benefit from it in many ways.
